2. Understand the metric system prefixes and their values (milli-1/1000th)
3. Write the 7 steps of the Scientific Method
4. There will be one or two basic microscope questions (what magnification level is the eye piece?)
5. Identify the common elements (N,O,H, C, etc…)
6. List the basic characteristics of Life (see page 36 of old text)
7. Know the cellular structure of animal and plant cells and be able to explain their functions.
8. Understand the structure and reproduction process of a virus
9. Know the Cell Theory
10. Compare and contrast photosynthesis and cellular respiration (know reactants and products)
11. Review the stages of Mitosis (I.P.M.A.T)
12. Know the four bases of DNA
13. Name the four blood types and know who can donate and receive from whom
14. Be able to work a punnett square
15. State the seven major levels of Classification (King, Phillip, Can…) (K,P,C,O,F, G, S)
16. Know what two levels of classification make up the Scientific Name and know the scientific name of humans.
17. Be familiar with the 3 basic shapes & names of bacteria
18. How can bacteria be helpful and harmful
19. Explain how viruses and bacteria are different
20. Terms to know: prokaryotic, eukaryotic, decomposer, consumer, producer, diffusion, osmosis, autotrophic, heterotrophic, homozygous, heterozygous, phenotype, genotype, carrier.
21. Essay (Short Answer) Question Topics: Scientific Method, Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration, or Mitosis.
