Ok, so I had said this would be a video, but I'm not going to do that now. As of right now, 1:35 p.m., I've only heard from 10 students out of the 55 who I have scheduled to take the exam. I hope I'll be hearing from more of you soon! If you have no idea what I'm talking about, see the blog (Tutorial Part One) below!
Ok, so we've been covering basic biology this first semester. Biology, the study of LIVING THINGS, is a very broad subject. We've spent the first part of the year talking about microscopic things...cells, the organelles in the cells, the DNA which controls the cell. We quickly explored pond organisms...euglena, paramecium, and amoebas at the beginning of the school year. Then, we moved on to animal and plant cells. You need to know the stuff inside the cells...what do ribosomes do? Make protein. What are centrioles? Vacuoles (where do you put your vacuum?) Mitochondria? You should know this stuff easily by now! :)
There will be some basic genetics information on the exam. A couple of blood type questions. You will definitely need to know photosynthesis and cellular respiration! KNOW THE FORMULAS!!! You will also need to understand MITOSIS!!! How about the element Iron? Do you know the symbol? (Fe) How about Ca? Think about it! Know the following elements...Al, Ca, C, Cl, Cu, Au, He, H, Fe, N, O, Na, Zn.
Know about chlorophyll...it's a pigment! Where is it found???
Definitely study your Moneran and Virus information. Know the term LATENT. Know the LYTIC CYCLE.
All I can say is that I've just looked over the exam again. It looks easy to me. IF YOU STUDY the stuff on the study guide. There are no trick questions. I want you to do well and that requires effort on your part. :)
Email me if you have questions. I'll check my email periodically through out the day until 9:00 p.m. tonight. Get lots of rest tonight and eat a breakfast that includes protein (carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen) so your brain will be working at it's best tomorrow morning!
I'll see you at 8:00 a.m in the MPR!
Mrs. D :)
