Punnett Squares and Genetics

Be sure to add the notes I emailed to you into your One Note!  Try these "practice problems" out using a Punnett Square.

C=curly hair (UPPER CASE "C")
c= straight hair (lower case "c")

1. If the Mom is HETEROZYGOUS curly (Cc) and the dad is HOMOZYGOUS straight (cc), what are the possiblities for their offspring?  Give in percentages.

2. If the mom and dad are both Homozygous Dominant, what will the outcomes be for their offspring?

3. Both parents are heterozygous.  Could they have a child with straight hair???

(Answers are in the file cabinet! :)

If you need a little tutorial, check out this video for Punnett Square help!  You only need to watch the first 5 minutes of it!  We have not covered the rest of the video yet!  It will be helpful later though!

Cell Size Lab

Why are cells so small?  Well, we discussed this in class today.  It has to do with the surface area-to-volume ratio.  Small cells have a larger surface area-to-volume ratio than larger cells as we  saw with our cubes that represented.  If you are still having some problems with this, try watching this video.  This guy is one of my favorites!  Watch this video for help!
